Wonfes Wishlist: Summer 2012
It’s time again for our Wonder Festival Wishlist where we pick out what figures we hope to see in the upcoming Wonfes happening on July 29th at the Makuhari Messe Exhibition Hall in Japan. This is the event where many figure manufacturers announce new figures and show off their prototypes. For us, it’s almost the roadmap on what our figure purchases will be like for the next half-year.
Luth: First off, we’ll start with the characters we’d like to see. I recently managed to marathon season one of Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, mostly because those bodysuits were HOT and the characters looked interesting. It was definitely alright, and I’m enjoying the second season, but I’d love to see more quality figures from that series. Max Factory is making an Tomo figure and Volks made a Horizon figure but I’d love to see some of the other characters, most notably the witch duo, Margot Knight and Malga Yuruze. I love their character design with the wings and outfits (although the ‘normal’ outfit is pretty awesome too) and their broom cannons are sweet as well. C’monnn Max Factory!
Zai: I’ve seen about 10 minutes worth of Horizon so I can’t comment on the series itself although I can’t deny that it features some interesting character designs. I prefer Horizon’s design the most although the witch girls Luth longs for look pretty neat too.
Luth: Next up is Muv-Luv Total Eclipse. The anime series so far has been pretty intense, in a good way. And damn, I’m loving this trend of skintight body suits. So far there have been a few figures by AlphaMax and Kotobukiya but all with little clothes on. Which is all good but body suits! In the show they look incredibly shiny, which would fit Good Smile Company’s glossy finishes well. I haven’t seen much of her in the anime yet but Cryska Barchenowa looks like a fox and her suit’s colors are pretty cool so I’m hoping for a GSC release there.
Zai: Totally up for some more Muv-Luv figures that aren’t in swimsuits or underwear as I’m all for bodysuits too. Cryska is nice and I certainly wouldn’t say no to a good looking figure of her although I prefer Inia a little more, design wise. GSC or Max Factory would be by pick for manufacturer here.
Luth: I’m still waiting for her: Airy from Shining Hearts. Kotobukiya seems to be really beating around the bush on her, even though she’s one of the main characters in Shining Hearts. Also, Alter seem to be picking up their Shining lineup with their amazing recent renditions of Melty and Mistral. So even though its a long shot, I’m hoping for an Alter rendition of Airy.
Zai: Poor Luth, if he doesn’t get his Airy this Wonfest then he may never get her! I don’t mind Airy but lean a little more towards Amil’s design so I’d love to see her pop up too. Kotobukiya’s Shining line isn’t bad judging by their Rufina, who we recently picked up, but I have to say I’d probably pick Alter as my manufacturer of choice.
Luth: Moving onto stuff that’s been announced but not sculpted.. one of the characters I’d love to see is Cat Girl by Native. It has that ‘just enough’ naughty appeal to it, potential for lots of details, and hey, it’s Native! The sign says ‘Next Product’ so I’m guessing they’ll have at least an unpainted sculpt by Wonfes and I’m excited.
Zai: I wonder if by Next Product they mean the very next product? Well, let’s hope so ’cause this is super cute. I’m not usually into the whole catgirl thing but she’s doing it for me so far.. well, in the illustration at least. Let’s hope she translates to figure form well, which I’m sure she will!
Luth: The next figure I’d love to see more of is ‘Cover Girl‘ by Orchid Seed. Orchid Seed have really been upping their game lately and they’ve ever so slowly been sculpting illustrations that were featured at various Wonder Festival events including gems like Mecha Nurse Nana and their upcoming Winter Ignis. Cover Girl has a cool, almost nonexistent outfit, she’s got a magic wand which might have cool sparklies, and GLASSES. Definitely interested in seeing how well Orchid Seed does with her.
Zai: We don’t yet have anything from Orchid Seed and it’s more than about time we did so I’m looking forward to what they have to offer at the upcoming event. Cover Girl looks quite nifty and I hope they capture her pretty face well in figure form. Orchid Seed are notoriously slow but I’m hoping they pick up their pace and give us a good sized showing at this Wonfest.
Zai: Ah.. sweet, sweet Eucliwood Hellscythe. I’m actually quite surprised there hasn’t been a decent figure of this lovely little lady made yet and I’m sure I wouldn’t be the only one interested in buying it. I think so far she only has a garage kit and a trading figure to her name, poor thing. Really, really hoping to see some Eu love this year and I fear if we don’t.. we probably never will.
Luth: I would have thought figure manufacturers would be all over Eu, at the very least a Beach Queen or garage kits. I have a feeling that something else is going on here and that Eu’s chances for figuratization are slim.
Zai: This one is a long shot, okay.. a really long shot but I think it’d be lovely to see Chris from Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka? Why? Because she’s a cute drunken loli and that’s all the reason I need.
Luth: Haha, I wouldn’t mind Chris actually, I like the white and pink color scheme and being constantly drunk makes her endearing where you can forgive her for yelling out in a loud, sometimes annoying voice. Also, lovelove spirally hair.
Zai: We’re hoping to pick up the Saber Bride Figma a little cheaper after release as we did with Saber Extra but I’d still love to see a gorgeous scaled figure of her. Look at her in that body suit.. delicious, yeah? My picks for manufacturer would be either GSC or Gift.. Satoshi Toda’s take on her could look quite cool!
Luth: After the newest slew of photos came out of the figma, damn, she looks awesome and that is a LOT of detail. A scaled figure of Saber Bride could be the new favorite if done well.
Zai: Good Smile Company sure are taking their sweet time when it comes to poor Sena from Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, who they announced they were scuplting at the previous Wonfest. Yozora is about to be released and we haven’t even Sena’s unpainted prototype yet. I was really looking forward to this figure but after having waited so long, my enthusiasm has dampened quite considerably. It’d want to be really good or I shall be giving Meat a miss.
Luth: I used to like Meat a lot but I have a feeling that GSC’s upcoming figure will be in a boring school uniform and based on their Yozora, in an unexciting pose. They could prove me wrong and come out with a fantastic sculpt but I’m not holding my breath.
Zai: I doubt we’ll see the Charles D’Artagnan (who was announced about 2 years ago along with the rest of the line) sculpted considering Alter are pretty slow with their Samurai Girls line and they revealed a painted Gisen that went up for preorder not that long ago.. but it’s still nice to hope! I’d love to finish up our Hyakka Ryouran collection with this lovely lady.
Luth: I think there might be a chance we could see Charles in an unpainted sculpt but to be honest, a lot of the Samurai Girls first peeks have been in magazine scans so we could be left waiting. Charles is the girl that I’ve been most looking forward to though since Hanzo, I mean, look at those swords!
Zai: Moving onto things that we want to see painted, I’m really looking forward to Gift’s ultra cute King Arthur from Eiyuu Senki all painted up. I wouldn’t mind seeing Gift pick up some other characters from Eiyuu Senki also.. some of those character designs are pretty damn neat.
Luth: I’m not usually into characters like this but the outfit and design are done so well that I folded. And it’s Arthur! I’m eager to see her painted as Gift has been doing well so far and I agree, there are a lot of other designs in that game that look pretty awesome.
Zai: I was pretty set on purchasing Good Smile Company’s first Tenshi release but ended up finding it just a touch too lackluster for my tastes.. and boy am I glad that I held out. I love winged figures and am a big Kanade fan so this figure really does it for me.
Luth: I was surprised to see another rendition of Tenshi come out as GSC had already done a version that seemed to be popular and it’s been awhile since anything Angel Beats has come out. That being said, we were so close to getting the first version but I’m so glad we decided to pass as this version looks amazing.
Let’s hope we’ll see a couple of characters we’d like to see on our list pop up. Who knows what else manufacturers will surprise us with.. we can’t wait!

I’m surprised Horizon hasn’t gotten more figure love, with all the crazy character designs. I’d be pretty interested to see Max Factory try to do Figmas of the witches or Naito/GIGADRILLS.
That Native Cat Girl looks like it could be nice. My collection needs more high-quality cat girls.
Wonfes this year is overlapping with Otakon, so it’ll be interesting desperately trying to get Wonfes information from my phone or netbook while there. Hopefully there will be some nice surprises this season.
I wonder what’s up with those Wonfes mascots being Lagrange-themed…

The Beach Queens have started coming out and since we know Max Factory has a license to make Asusa at least, hopefully they’ll move onto figmas as well! Naito might make a cool figma actually…
Haha, maybe you’ll be having too much fun at Otakon! I’ll be stuck at a developers conference that day but I know for sure I’ll be on the phone half the time, haha.
Hrmm, Lagrange mascots and con run by Kaiyodo, maybe we’ll be seeing Lagrange Revoltechs?
That’d be great to see some Horizon Figma. I haven’t been interested in many Figma lately but I’m hoping this Wonfest will change that.
Ohh right, Otakon. I’m a bit jealous of you guys but at least I’ll get to sit here in front of my computer yelling out exclamations of joy to a room full of no one, haha.
I’ve no idea but the grin on the one dressed as Madoka is pretty bloody creepy.
Horizon: A series that Luth has watched that Zai hasn’t?!? Unpossible!
I agree though need moar Horizon figs! Such crazy over the top chara designs deserve some love with Nate at the top of that list followed by Kimi!
Muv Luv: Doubt I’d buy a figure from the show as the characters are terrible thus-far, but it is frustrating to see stupid companies outright refuse to make figures of them in the suits, which is arguably one of the biggest draws of the series.
Shining: Terrible show and I’m always of the opinion the world doesn’t need more Tony figures, but hey who am I to trample on someones dreams I hope you get what you want.
Native: I’m hoping for more Loli’s! From what I hear Princess sold very well for them…Come on Native you like money right?!?
Cover Girl: Hmmm Orchid seed isn’t really my favorite maker, but I do quite like her design. Aren’t enough figures of girls with glasses for sure.
Zombie: While the second season was a massive disappointment for me I do find it odd there’s no figures from it either…Personally I’d take one of Loli magic sensei in her tiny bikini…Mmmm~
Saber: Unlike all the other iterations on Saber’s design this one I actually like. If someone could make a better dress version of Saber Alter or this I might actually own a Saber!
Sena: Yea that pose looks boring as hell…Need someone to make a nice ecchi figure of her that emphasizes her “Meat” overall not just the boobs.
Samurai: God I had completely forgotten about her…Probably because Samurai girls was terrible. :p
Arthur: Meh as much as I’m a die hard Ashito fan the pose on this really doesn’t do a damn thing for me…Oh well wait until I see her painted I guess.
Tenshi: Yea the first one was terrible by GSC standards “LOL 3D Sculpting”, but this one looks pretty nice. Sigh if only there was a Yui figure…

I know, its amazing! Zai gave up on the first episode but I liked the character designs and heard it got better in the later part of the series so I ended up marathoning it recently. So many potential for figures…
Its so weird that figure manufacturers love skintight body suits on 14 year old girls but not on Muv Luv girls
Zombie: LOL
Saber: You don’t own a Saber?! BLASPHEMY
Sena: Blacksmith outfit
Tenshi: Well, tbh, the original was a ‘budget’ figure and it was really cool of them to throw in the wings, even if they were a bit crappy. Makes me wonder how many of their sculpts are using 3D printing these days…
Haha, I’m a bit surprised he watched it too.. even after I said I found it pretty shit!
Yep, I find the suits in Muv-Luv a hell of a lot sexier than underwear and bathing suits. Booorrrinnng.
Oh boo to you, Ash. Kinda with you on the Tony figures though, I’m not exactly the biggest Tony fan around.
I want more like Princess too. Luth probably wouldn’t though but he’s a bit of a loser when it comes to cute girls.
Yes, glasses are justice! Not biased at all, nope.
In her bikini? But her outfit is so cute, aww!
Samurai Girls was complete trash. I watched the entire series just because I have figures from it.. what a waste of time.
Yeah, why is there no Yui figure? I love Yui too and would have been all over one if it came out a year or so ago.
Wonfes on my birthday, that’s quite funny, maybe a secret wish will be granted ;D
Im with Luth when it comes to Margot and Malga from the Horizon anime. I also watched it just recently. Both are likeable as characters and the design of both, characters and suits look really nice and cool.
I would like some love for Muv-Luv from Max Factory, I prefer the battle suits as well ^^
But I also want to see Shining Heart figures from other manufacturers than Kotobukiya, so far none of them were appealing enough for me.
After my pretty bathing Sonico I would like to get another Native figure, I hope cat girl is wearing underwear at least XD
Im a steady customer of Orchid Seed figures and so Im interested to see some progress on Ichijou Manami and Leviathan ^^.
Chouhi Ekitoku should already be presented in a painted prototype, I waited 2 years for this to happen. I badly want that figure.
Its quite bad that we had no! Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka? figures so far. There are fugly chibi figures but nothing nice and pretty.
I don’t care if it’s Haruna, Eu or Chris, just do something you figure manufacturers, please.
As I saw GSC’s Yozora it was actually a big letdown for me, just too plain overall. I actually don’t expect that it will be better with Sena
But the new Tenshi will be great I think, the other one appears like cheap merchandise now. It seems a bit late to announce this figure years after the anime, but I guess it will be a high quality figure that is worth the “delay”.
Im also would like to see some progress of the 1/4 scaled Sonico from Freeing, Yagyu from AmiAmi zero and Mistral Nereis as well as Mirakurun from ALTER. But as always Im mainly looking forward to surprises nobody had on their List. Maybe something like Oda from Oda Nobuna no Yabou ♡
Wieselhead recently posted..Kurono Kurumu by Orchid Seed
Oooh, that’ll be some nice birthday presents! Or at least potential presents, lol.
Yay for battle suits! xD
Alter are slowly doing Shining Hearts figures that are looking amazing. Off the top of my head they came out with Kureha and Clalaclan before but their recent unpainted sculpts are looking very ambitious. Cmonnnnn Airy.
In the picture, it looks like catgirl is wearing striped panties, I imagine they would prolly include those as cast off.
Man, Orchid Seed, so slow! I’m also interested in seeing Manami painted, her artwork looks gorgeous.
Whoah, that 1/4 Sonico looks pretty awesome. Zai always wanted a Freeing Bunny Girl, this might be our first.
Winter Wonfest is near my birthday too! I think it’s the day after it.
Do you like the Tomo Max Factory are bringing out? I quite like her although probably not enough to justify a purchase.
I love the Shining figures Alter have sculpted so far such as Melty and Mistral.. I can imagine Luth and I buying those unless they come out really underwhelming when painted.
I was actually thinking of including the Menkui! girl on our list but it was getting too long, haha! Also hoping to see some (well probably one if I’m lucky) of the Seven Deadly Sins girls pop up. The first girl they put up for order was nice but not really to my taste.
It is bad! I’d take a Haruna or Sera or anyone really.. even Ayumu in his Masou Shoujo outfit, lol.
I quite liked their Yozora although she looked like she had a potbelly or something, haha. The expression wasn’t all that good either. Koto made a nice Sena sculpt but I didn’t like how it looked painted.
It does seem a bit late with Tenshi, i wonder why they decided to do it now?
As Luth said, I’m very interesting in the FREEing Sonico bunny too, hope she comes out really cute with a nice face. I think the unexpected surprises are always the best at Wonfest.. can’t wait and hope we gets heaps of pleasant surprises!
I see ^^
I would directly purchase a Tomo in a standing pose and the regular suit ^^. Im not a big fan of the wine red is not really my thing and the pose is not exactly how I would like to see Tomo.
Yeah I know about ALTER’s Shining wind prototypes, very promising, I’d like their Mistral a lot. But I can’t say more until they are painted.
Thats understandable, but she probably won’t be painted on the Wonfes booth anyway XD
The first one of the Deadly Sins was a bit too massive or to put it rude she’s fat. I’d rather like the Leviathan and Beelzebub.
I wouldn’t go that far to wish for crossdressing Ayumu :p
I felt the same for Koto’s Sena, they chose a great illustration, but after it was painted I instantly lost my interest. what have they done? : (
Thats an interesting question, maybe they had no capacities for an elaborate Tenshi earlier.
The bunny Sonico should have a cute expression, would be cool if Freeing had the painted prototype ready on this Wonfes. Not sure where I could put her on display so far
Im very curious about this event maybe more than usual ^^

Bloody hell, you two have one helluva memory. All these figures from yesteryear, wow! Doesn’t it get depressing how some ideas just end up stuck in limbo forever?
I’m really surprised that Charles from Hyakka Hyrouran hasn’t received any announcements yet, but then again, since Gisen only got announced a month back, Alter is taking their sweet-ass time. I have faith in them, though. Those Alter people are stubborn motherfuckers. If they can pump out shelf-warmers like Shamal and Vivio, then a large-breasted blonde foreigner should have no problems.
Wow, that Eiyuu Senki girl is King Arthur? NEVER KNEW, I just “inspected” the HCGs. The world needs more Okari Ashito figures. Preferably with less clothes, but I look forward to this one as well.
GSC needs to get on Total Eclipse. ALL THAT GLOSS — it’s PERFECT. The production quality in the show has been letting me down slightly, so I need a bucket of GSC gloss as compensation. Come onnnn GSC, don’t you fail me now!
Chag recently posted..Visual Novel Reviews: Stryker’s better Days
It was all me, all my memory. Nah, not really.. we just get overly excited about announcements then tend to obsess over them a bit. Yep, we’re total nerds.
Alter have been boring me a bit lately, especially with the stuff they showed off at the last Wonfest. I mean, I do really like a couple of the things that they are bringing out but not as much as I usually do. Hoping they impress me a bit more this time.
It does, it needs many, many more. I can’t remember who most of them are, I just remember this girl in particular (probably because I’m a Saber fan.. haaah). Hopefully this is just the start of a long line of them!
Although a lot of ideas are stuck in limbo for awhile, it’s good to see a lot of these keep making appearances at Wonfes, they haven’t been given up on yet! And some we just don’t give up on, haha. There are a bunch of other figures that are too depressing to mention, like Knight Princess Miku, Bayonetta, and Archer.
I don’t mind Alter taking their time with the Samurai Girls, gives us time to save up and each and every one of them have been awesome, even the ones we skipped out on (mostly because they were exclusives). They usually haven’t had a big presence at Wonfes though so I’m not holding high expectations.
Gloss and the hint of transparency on Muv Luv figures! Like they did with Max Factory Test Suit Asuka. That would be instabuy so hard.
Omg if they made a figure out of the first illustration you showed for example ill send my money to them straight away!
I love the idea of horizon because of the body suit being a focal eye orgasm ^^
Also based on the GSC Lacia figure, we need more of these kinds!
Fabrice recently posted..Anime Vending Machines
I had forgotten about the next Lacia figure! That would also be amazing to see…
One of the highlights for me whenever Wonder Festival is ongoing are the unannounced figures that for some reason have managed to avoid magazine scans or blog teasers prior to the event. Then follows the torment of waiting another year before seeing a painted version, or, if it’s from Orchid Seed, another decade.
If memory serves, the Cat Girl illustration was shown over a year ago even before the soon to be released Elfriede and the recently announced Misae but hopefully we’ll see something new this coming weekend. As much as I look forward to Cat Girl I also have my doubts when there’s an open mouth with a tongue sticking out, they rarely translate well into the sculpt.
Orchid Seed are as sadistic as Native. Whenever there’s an event they plaster an entire wall with neat illustrations that fans may fawn over for ages. Cover Girl is one of said illustrations that look very promising, especially with that outfit she’s barely wearing.
Unsure of the debated delays for Sena, perhaps it’s no coincidence that Wonder Festival this summer starts the day before Yozora is released to the public. One could hope, with Sena going up for pre-order shortly after her rival’s departure. As for the figure itself, surely there are more interesting artworks around but the one they based it off is not that bad. Not sure what people were expecting besides putting her in a swimsuit, which is very original, but plenty of other companies are doing that already. The suggested blacksmith outfit is a peculiar one though chances of seeing it come to plastic are probably as slim as a manufacturer taking on the task of crafting Yozora as Rose Girl, though one could always hope.
Haha, GSC manages to hide a lot of stuff and it seems like they work their sculptors to the bone before every Wonfes. Which is why I’m always really surprised when they still manage to show lots of goodies in the Hobby Japan before every Wonfes.
Ohwow, I didn’t know Cat Girl was that old! We don’t have many open mouth figures because I agree, they usually look crap but if anyone can pull it off, it’s Native.
Haha, I’m not holding any hope for a Blacksmith Sena except maybe as a prize figure or garage kit. Infact I’ve pretty much given up on any Sena figure. Seeing as how Yozora is in their budget figure range and how uninterested I am in the recent Megahouse High Priestess Sena, GSC needs to come out with something truly spectacular otherwise its going to be ‘just another boring Sena’ figure
Speak of the devils. If you don’t mind Griffon these are decent alternatives to what’s available, Yozora doesn’t look bad at all.
Hmm… I wonder what I want, I haven’t seen a show or played a game where I go: ah I would love a figure of this. I’m curious to see who will get the figure treatment from the latest anime shows and games.
Wait, no, I lied. After playing the trilogy of PS3 Atelier games from Gust I would kill for a figure of any of the three protagonists from GSC, Max Factory or Alter. So far I haven’t been satisfied that the figures that are out there, they do not match Kishida Mel’s art style close enough.
I agree with you guys, where are the Zombie figures? I would kill for a Haruna or Eu figure scaled or figma.
Another lovely Tenshi figure from GSC? I quite like the first one, after I took pictures of her I was very much smitten with it. Another Tenshi? Yes please, I will buy.
Other than hoping to see soem stuff from the last Wonfes in painted form I have no expectations. I’m hoping I will be surprised. Only a few more days to go.

Oh wow. I’m totally late this this comment and since wonderfes is over, it’s probably a bit silly for me to reply but I’ll feel a bit rude if I don’t, lol.
Did you see the Merle prototype by Phat? I wasn’t all that impressed by their Totori but the Merle sculpt looks pretty nice so I’ll be keeping an eye on it.
No Zombie figures, anywhere. What the fuck, I guess we’ll never see any.
The painted Tenshi they showed was breathtaking, I’m really really happy with the way it turned out.
Sorry I’m late with the response but I hope you found a lot you liked at Wonfest, a few of my wishes were granted along with some really nice surprises like Yamato’s Elin!!

If a good manufacturer ever made a figure of Eu, I would be all over it. I really hope she does get a figure sometime soon.
